My Story
I'm Sanjay Gupta, candidate for Ward 3 Town Councillor (Coates, Cobban, Beaty & Bowes).

Where I come from
I was born into a business family in Gujarat, India, so I learned the basics of business from childhood. My family and I moved to Canada in 2010, and Milton has been our permanent home since 2014.
My daughter grew up and went to school here before going to McMaster, and my son is in high school. My wife is a real estate stager and marketer. We are proud Miltonians, and Milton will always be our home.

My background
Bachelor of Engineering
12+ years as a software professional with TCS, IBM, HP and Air Canada
12 years as a real estate broker. I've sat at the dining tables of 1,000+ Milton families, listening to their goals and helping solve their problems
Director and committee roles with the Real Estate Board and Chamber of Commerce
Monthly donor to Milton District Hospital and SickKids
My priorities for Ward 3
More businesses and jobs in Milton, so our kids can work close to home
More entrepreneurship, volunteer and job opportunities for youth
Safer streets, with tougher fines for reckless drivers
Safe, legal housing, with fines for illegal basement units and free yearly ARU renewal, permanently, when your unit passes inspection
Overnight street parking raised from 25 to 60 days a year in the no-snow months
Snow clearing on interior streets made a priority
Outdoor pickleball season extended to mid-November
Donation drives for our food banks and hospitals
Monthly ward meetings: real updates, an open door, always
How I'll work to keep taxes reasonable
This year the Town's share of your property tax went up almost 7%. Families shouldn't face shocks like that. Here's how I'll push back:
Build our reserves.
When there's a surplus, save it, and grow the reserve fund every year, so the Town isn't forced into big tax increases when costs rise.
Ask residents first.
Get public input before any major, expensive project. Milton residents are smart, and they'll find savings staff might miss.
Review every contract.
Check existing contracts for gaps, and test whether other contractors can do the same work for less.
Partner with the private sector.
Use public-private partnerships for entertainment squares, recreation centres and other public spaces.
Make developers finish the job.
Developers should maintain new subdivisions longer before the Town takes them over.
Adopt-a-street and adopt-a-park.
Let local businesses sponsor maintenance of streets and parks, as other towns already do.
Enforce the rules.
Stronger enforcement against reckless driving and other offences. Safety comes first, and offenders, not taxpayers, carry the cost.
I won't promise you zero. A freeze today just means a bigger bill tomorrow. What I will promise is careful spending and no more shocks.
